Government Shutdown - How Does This Affect Tax Season?
We are staying on top of the effect of the Federal Shutdown on the IRS and your tax filings. The main concerns being raised are in the rapidity of receiving a tax refund, the response time when contacting the IRS for tax question assistance, and clarification to tax accountants who have been waiting for the last word on regulations that would affect clients' 2018 tax returns. These three areas will be addressed at a much slower pace than usual due to the furloughing of at least half the IRS staff because of the Shutdown. The IRS has confirmed that tax season will start January 28th, despite the government Shutdown. Attached is a CNBC article concerning the IRS and the Shutdown if you are interested in learning more.
National Association of Women Business Owners Event
Kristen was thrilled to attend the annual NAWBO Columbus Good to Great event. A perfect way to start the new year! She learned more about a topic close to her heart, Gender Norms and Implicit Bias from Sarah Pariser at The Women's Fund of Central Ohio, and how type A women with high functioning anxiety can be more successful from Nancy Jane Smith Live Happier. NAWBO is the National Association of Women Business Owners, and the Columbus chapter is doing great things for women business owners in Central Ohio. NorthAvenue LLC is proud to be a part of it.
Columbus Tesla Owners’ Holiday Party
NorthAvenue LLC sponsored Tesla Columbus Ohio Owners holiday party this past Saturday by providing beverages. There was a great turnout, despite the blizzard outside. Kristen, Chandler, and their significant others, Jeff and Eric, enjoyed sharing drinks and a few bites with the group members. It was held at Smart Columbus, where we learned about our city’s plan for smart solutions to transportation as well as their expansion plan of electric vehicle use and ownership. Though it was too snowy to test out the Smart Columbus driverless shuttle, we were able to check out several hybrid vehicles in their showroom. We are proud to support and be a part of organizations that work towards a cleaner environment, especially through local causes.
If you happen to be interested in test driving an electric vehicle, you can visit Smart Columbus to try one out for free!
